Lyric Opera of Chicago celebrates the start of the 2022/23 Season with Sunday in the Park with Lyric at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago's Millennium Park on Sunday, August 21st, at 7:00 p.m. This free outdoor performance is presented in cooperation with the City of Chicago and Millennium Park. Highlighting the program will be several excerpts from Lyric’s upcoming season: Verdi's Ernani, Fiddler on the Roof, Verdi’s Don Carlos, Rossini's Le Comte Ory, Bizet's Carmen, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, and West Side Story. Attendees will also receive special ticket offers for Lyric’s upcoming season! Lyric's music director, Enrique Mazzola, will conduct this exciting concert that features the Lyric Opera Orchestra and members of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center — sopranos Kathryn Henry, Lindsey Reynolds, and Denis Vélez, mezzo-soprano Katherine DeYoung, tenors Ryan Capozzo, Martin Luther Clark, Lunga Eric Hallam, and Alejandro Luévanos, baritones Laureano Quant and Ian Rucker, basses Ron Dukes and Wm. Clay Thompson, conductor/pianist Donald Lee III, and pianist Chris Reynolds. Mezzo-soprano Katherine Beck, a Ryan Opera Center alumna, will appear as a special guest.
