For the coming three seasons, Flanders Symphony Orchestra has named Martijn Dendievel as their associate conductor. This is the extension of a long-term partnership with Martijn, as the orchestra was already there at the very start of his career. In recent years he has evolved into one of today’s most promising Flemish conductors: driven, sensitive, full of smiles… but above all with a breathtaking musical depth.

To kick off his guest conductorship he has set out an exciting artistic trajectory, with a spotlight on Eastern Europe and the music of Antonín Dvořák. His 

Symphony No. 7, full of Bohemian themes and personal tragedy, is the fascinating starting point. Tchaikovsky, a friend and admirer of Dvořák, draws on a completely different source for his Piano Concerto No. 1: overwhelmingly romantic with cosmopolitan flair. Pianist Tanguy de Williencourt, known for his Franck recording with the orchestra, delivers a surprising interpretation with his balanced playing, lively rhythm and poetic strength.

De komende drie seizoenen roept Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen Martijn Dendievel uit tot associate conductor. Het is het vervolg van een langdurig partnerschap met Martijn, want het orkest was er al in de kiem van zijn carrière bij. De afgelopen jaren is hij uitgegroeid tot een van dé meest beloftevolle Vlaamse dirigenten van het moment: gedreven, sensitief, goedlachs ... maar bovenal met een adembenemende muzikale diepgang.

Als startschot voor zijn gastdirigentschap stippelt hij een spannend artistiek traject uit, met een volgspot op Oost-Europa en de muziek van Antonín Dvořák. Zijn Zevende Symfonie, vol Boheemse thema’s en persoonlijke tragiek, is het fascinerende startpunt. Tsjajkovski, vriend en bewonderaar van Dvořák, putte uit een heel andere bron voor zijn Eerste Pianoconcerto: overdonderend romantisch met kosmopolitische flair. Pianist Tanguy de Williencourt, bekend van zijn Franck-opname met het orkest, zorgt met zijn evenwichtige spel, levendige ritmiek en poëtische kracht voor een verrassende lezing.

Pour les trois saisons prochaines, le Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen nomme Martijn Dendievel associate conductor. Il poursuit ainsi son long partenariat avec Martijn, car l'orchestre était déjà présent à l'orée de sa carrière de chef. Au cours de ces dernières années, Dendievel s'est révélé l'un des chefs d'orchestre flamands les plus prometteurs du moment : déterminé, sensible, souriant… mais surtout doté d'une remarquable profondeur musicale.
Pour donner le coup d'envoi à sa mission de chef invité, il trace un parcours artistique passionnant en braquant le projecteur sur l'Europe de l'Est et les compositions d'Antonín Dvořák. Sa Symphonie n° 7, gorgée de thèmes bohémiens et de tragédie, en est le point de départ fascinant. Tchaïkovski, ami et admirateur de Dvořák, a puisé à une source bien différente pour son Concerto pour piano n° 1, d'un romantisme renversant et aux accents cosmopolites. Le pianiste Tanguy de Williencourt, renommé pour son enregistrement d'œuvres de César Franck avec l'orchestre, propose une lecture surprenante du concerto au travers de son jeu équilibré, de sa rythmique vivace et de sa grande puissance poétique.
