Monologue exalté ? Vaste poème symphonique et vocal ? Le Poème de l'Amour et de la Mer est un peu tout cela à la fois, telle une architecture inouïe et inclassable, jetant un pont entre les Nuits d'Été de Berlioz et la Shéhérazade de Maurice Ravel, où le langage harmonique en perpétuelle mutation conjugue les influences de Berlioz, de Fauré, de Franck, et surtout de Wagner. Dépassant la simple mélodie, ce Poème déroule une traversée où l'amour éteint se dissout dans le mouvement sans cesse renouvelé de la mer.

1928 : Ravel effectue une tournée triomphale aux Etats-Unis, et là - à New York - il rencontre George Gershwin... un Gershwin pénétré d'admiration pour le Maître français, et qui l'emmène à Harlem pour lui faire découvrir le Jazz... Une révélation ! L'année suivante, Ravel écrit deux concertos pour piano (dont un pour l'unique main gauche) dans lesquels le Jazz vient colorer le miroitement de sa parure orchestrale et la saveur de sa texture harmonique. Le Concerto en sol, l'un des plus beaux du XXème siècle, avec sa sublime cadence qui conclut le premier mouvement en évoquant les ondulations de la scie musicale, viendra ici déployer son humeur joyeuse et juvénile.

Deux œuvres de la jeune et talentueuse compositrice et violoniste Élise Bertrand - qui tiendra elle-même la partie soliste - seront également au programme, comme la promesse d'un concert exceptionnel.

Exalted monologue? Vast symphonic and vocal poem? The Poem of Love and the Sea is a bit of all of these things at the same time, like an incredible and unclassifiable architecture, throwing a bridge between Berlioz's Summer Nights and Maurice Ravel's Scheherazade, where the harmonic language in perpetual mutation combines the influences of Berlioz, Fauré, Franck, and especially Wagner. Going beyond the simple melody, this Poem unfolds a crossing where extinguished love dissolves in the constantly renewed movement of the sea.

1928: Ravel makes a triumphant tour of the United States, and there - in New York - he meets George Gershwin... a Gershwin imbued with admiration for the French Master, and who takes him to Harlem to introduce him to Jazz ... A revelation ! The following year, Ravel wrote two piano concertos (including one for the only left hand) in which Jazz colors the shimmer of its orchestral adornment and the flavor of its harmonic texture. The Concerto in G, one of the most beautiful of the 20th century, with its sublime cadence which concludes the first movement by evoking the undulations of the musical saw, will come here to deploy its joyful and youthful mood.

Two works by the young and talented composer and violinist Élise Bertrand - who herself will hold the solo part - will also be on the program, like the promise of an exceptional concert.
