An operatic involvement from "The Human Voice" by Francis Poulenc and "The Telephone" by Gian Carlo Menotti

You've been in a telephone relationship, always. Back when he wanted to get engaged to her, he did it on the phone. And now everything is ended by phone. But before the connection is finally cut, she looks back on a life full of words, misunderstandings and unfulfilled longings. The technical marvel of the telephone, which prompted Giancarlo Menotti to put the absurdly comical side of human communication to music in 1946, emerged as a mouthpiece of loneliness in Poulenc's opera twelve years later. The Theater Vorpommern combines these two pieces into a single musical total work of art that opens up a deep look into the human soul.
