»Path of Miracles« gilt seit seiner Uraufführung im Jahr 2005 als Meisterwerk der modernen Chorliteratur.

Joby Talbots episches Werk entstand unter dem persönlichen Eindruck einer Wallfahrt zum Schrein des Heiligen Jakobus in der Kathedrale von Santiago de Compostela. Neben dem religiösen Erlebnis stehen die Erinnerungen an die beschwerliche Reise und die gewonnenen Eindrücke und Erkenntnisse im Fokus.

Talbots viersätzige Komposition für Chor, von Tenebrae uraufgeführt, macht den Pilgerweg vor allem als kollektive Erfahrung erlebbar, die Pilgernde seit Jahrhunderten verbindet und zu einer »communitas« formt. Nach zahlreichen Aufführungen in Kirchen und Kathedralen auf der ganzen Welt – von den USA bis nach Australien – kommt  Tenebrae mit »Path of Miracles« erstmals in die Lausitz.

Since its premiere in 2005, »Path of Miracles« has been praised as a masterpiece of modern choral music. Composer Joby Talbot’s epic work was written after his pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago to the shrine of St. James in Santiago de Compostela. In addition to his religious experiences, the work is a record of his impressions of the difficult journey and the people and places he encountered along the way. Talbot’s four-movement work, which was premiered by the ensemble Tenebrae, allows us to understand the pilgrimage as a collective experience creating a sense of communitas uniting those who have undertaken it throughout the centuries. Following numerous performances in churches and cathedrals around the world – from the USA to Australia – Tenebrae will bring »Path of Miracles« to the Lausitz for the first time.
