The bon vivant Harry Bronson cheats on his fiancee and pays for it with his inheritance: his father Ichabond has caught him and shortly afterwards decides to bequeath all his money to Violet Gray, a kind-hearted girl from the Salvation Army and daughter of an old friend. Violet doesn't think that's fair though - she wants Harry to have the fortune that is his due and hatches a daring plan.
