In de Stad der Dames is elke steen het ver­haal van een vrouw. Christine de Pizan creëerde de stad als een plaats waar vrouwen vrij zouden zijn van de beperkin­gen opgelegd door de maatschap­pij en waar ze op zoek kon­den gaan naar hun eigen gren­zen van het vrouwelijke. Servir Antico vertelt het ver­haal van Christine de Pizan en haar ally Martin Le Franc via gespro­ken tek­sten uit het lit­eraire oeu­vre van bei­de auteurs die op muziek wer­den gezet. Met werken als Christine’s Lament van Gilles Binchois en Le Champion des Dames, gebaseerd op het gedicht van Le Franc, wordt dit con­cert een lofzang aan alle vrouwen.

In the City of Ladies, every stone tells the sto­ry of a woman. Christine de Pizan cre­at­ed the city as a place where women would be free from the lim­i­ta­tions imposed by soci­ety and where they could explore their own lim­its as women. Servir Antico tells the sto­ry of Christine de Pizan and her ally Martin Le Franc through spo­ken texts from the lit­er­ary works of both authors set to music. With works such as Gilles Binchois’ ​“Christine’s Lament” and ​“Le Champion des Dames,” based on Le Franc’s poem, this con­cert will be a trib­ute to all women.
