These diary entries are among the best-known autobiographical notes of the 20th century: fear and persecution are given impressive form in them, but also joy, hope and burgeoning love. Based on the writings published by her father, Grigori Frid, who came from St. Petersburg, composed a chamber opera about the life and fate of the Jewish girl Anne Frank. Taking into account both the horror of what happened and the author's literary expressiveness, the composer created music that picks up on the oppressive atmosphere of the reports.

From the inner life of the protagonist, the Giessen team creates a self-contained world in an abstract space that can be transformed through the use of projections. The voice and the presence of the young Austrian soprano Martha Matscheko make the production an emotionally touching experience. The direction of this musically attractive and complex opera rarity is in the hands of the former GMD Herbert Gietzen, who also plays the virtuoso piano part in the accompanying quartet.
