Sometimes life gives us surprises. Sometimes they are pleasant: it's good when the turnip grows big, big. But then the problem arises - how to pull it out? Only together, having reconciled and leaving aside all differences.

In order for the fairy tale familiar to everyone since childhood to become a real opera, albeit designed for a very small audience, additions were made to the plot. In addition to the usual characters, there are also new characters - singing or otherwise sounding trees and birds, as well as a narrator-buffoon.

"Turnip" is the first opera by composer Rustam Sagdiev. The Mariinsky Theater invited him to write a children's opera on a Russian theme, the folklore of which would be manifested not only in music, but also in texts and in the plot. “The main material of the opera is songs from different regions of Russia, somewhat stylized, modified, but still recognizable. In a sense, this opera can be called a reader of Russian folklore for children,” the author explains. Since then, he managed to create several more operas for children and adults.

The director of the play, Tatiana Naumova, being an actress and director of the SamArt Theater, has extensive experience in creating performances for young audiences. She says this: “The tale “Turnip” is one of the first that children join at a very early age. Our fairy tale is the first entry into the world of opera. The tale teaches the continuity of generations and mutual assistance. Quarrels and disagreements happen in any, even the most friendly, family, and at the same time, the fairy tale shows that it is easier to solve any problem together than alone, and even the contribution of the smallest to the common cause is beneficial. And if you haven’t held each other for a long time, then it’s time ... Let's pull, pull ... ".

Бывает, что жизнь преподносит нам сюрпризы. Иногда они приятные: хорошо, когда репка вырастает большая-пребольшая. Но тогда возникает проблема – как же ее вытащить? Только сообща, помирившись и оставив в стороне все разногласия.

Чтобы знакомая всем с детства сказка стала самой настоящей оперой, пусть и рассчитанной на очень маленького зрителя, в сюжет были внесены дополнения. Кроме привычных персонажей, здесь действуют и новые герои – поющие или иначе звучащие деревья и птицы, а также рассказчик-Скоморох.

«Репка» – первая опера композитора Рустама Сагдиева. Мариинский театр предложил ему написать детскую оперу на русскую тему, фольклорность которой проявлялась бы не только в музыке, но и в текстах, и в сюжете. «Основной материал оперы – это песни из разных регионов России, несколько стилизованные, видоизмененные, но все равно узнаваемые. В каком-то смысле эту оперу можно назвать хрестоматией русского фольклора для детей», – поясняет автор. С тех пор он успел создать еще несколько опер для детей и взрослых.

Постановщица спектакля Татьяна Наумова, будучи актрисой и режиссером театра «СамАрт», имеет большой опыт создания спектаклей для юной аудитории. Она говорит так: «Сказка "Репка" – одна из первых, к которым приобщаются дети в самом раннем возрасте. Наша сказка – это первое вхождение в мир оперы. Сказка учит преемственности поколений и взаимопомощи. В любой, даже самой дружной, семье случаются ссоры и разногласия, и при этом сказка показывает, что любую проблему легче решить сообща, чем в одиночку, и даже вклад самых маленьких в общее дело приносит пользу. И если вы давно не держались друг за друга – то самое время... Тянем-потянем...».
