The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi are works constantly reinterpreted and presented in new versions. The brilliant Erik Bosgraaf decided to arrange the violin part in these famous works for the instrument for which he became famous for his virtuoso mastery – the recorder. However, admirers of the Italian composer's legacy rightly point out the injustice of the total dominance that Seasons have in concert programs over other works from his oeuvre . For this reason, the musicians will place them in the context of three other concerts by the famous Venetian.

Where did the popularity of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter by Red Priest come from ? The answer may seem obvious - it is due to the illustrative associations, the genius with which the composer allows the listener to find himself in the world of sounds, abstract in themselves, by means of the titles of the subsequent concertos. However, there must be something more to Vivaldi's cycle - after all, it is not the only representation of the seasons in the history of music, and none of them enjoys such fame. Let's compare Spring, Summer, Fall and WinterVivaldi with the concertos of Johann Sebastian Bach created in a similar period - Bach's music is extremely beautiful, but the melodiousness and simplicity of the Italian's works make listening to them incomparably easier. Maybe these features are the key to their repertoire immortality?

Erik Bosgraaf, who will perform at the National Forum of Music together with the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra led by Jarosław Thiel, has already recorded Four Seasons on the album released a few years ago by Brilliant Classics. On the occasion of the premiere, he explained that in these works "the violin part can be played on the recorder with surprising ease, without introducing many changes". The contrasts obtained in this way allow the listener to discover new colors and details in the music, and the new instrument in the cast "in some respects works even better than in the concertos that Vivaldi himself wrote with him in mind" - he explained.

Cztery pory roku Antonia Vivaldiego to dzieła bez ustanku reinterpretowane i prezentowane w nowych odsłonach. Genialny Erik Bosgraaf zdecydował się opracować partię skrzypiec w tych słynnych utworach na instrument, z którego wirtuozowskiego opanowania zasłynął – flet prosty. Wielbiciele spuścizny włoskiego kompozytora słusznie jednak zwracają uwagę na niesprawiedliwość totalnej dominacji, jaką względem pozostałych dzieł z jego dorobku w programach koncertów mają Pory roku. Z tego powodu muzycy umieszczą je w kontekście trzech innych koncertów, które wyszły spod ręki słynnego wenecjanina.

Skąd właściwie wzięła się tak ogromna popularność Wiosny, Lata, Jesieni i Zimy autorstwa Rudego Księdza? Odpowiedź może wydawać się oczywista – to zasługa ilustracyjnych skojarzeń, geniuszu, z jakim za pomocą tytułów kolejnych koncertów kompozytor pozwala słuchaczowi odnaleźć się świecie dźwięków, samych w sobie przecież abstrakcyjnych. W cyklu Vivaldiego musi być jednak coś więcej – nie jest on przecież jedynym w historii muzyki przedstawieniem pór roku, a żadne z nich nie cieszy się taką sławą. Porównajmy Wiosnę, Lato, Jesień i Zimę Vivaldiego z powstałymi w podobnym okresie koncertami Jana Sebastiana Bacha – muzyka Bacha jest niezwykle piękna, ale melodyjność i prostota dzieł Włocha sprawiają, że słucha się ich bez porównania łatwiej. Może to zatem te cechy stanowią klucz do ich repertuarowej nieśmiertelności?

Erik Bosgraaf, który w Narodowym Forum Muzyki wystąpi razem z Wrocławską Orkiestrą Barokową kierowaną przez Jarosława Thiela, nagrał już Cztery pory roku na płycie wydanej kilka lat temu przez Brilliant Classics. Przy okazji premiery wyjaśniał, że w utworach tych „partię skrzypiec można zagrać na flecie prostym z zaskakującą łatwością, bez wprowadzania wielu zmian”. Uzyskane w ten sposób kontrasty pozwalają odkryć słuchaczowi w muzyce nowe barwy i detale, a nowy instrument w obsadzie „pod pewnym względem sprawdza się nawet lepiej niż w koncertach, które sam Vivaldi napisał z myślą o nim” – wyjaśniał.
