ZHANG Haiou is one of the most sought-after young pianists in the international music scene. In recognition of his outstanding artistic achievements, a classical music festival was named after him in Buxtehude, Lower Saxony, Germany in 2010. The German newspaper Süddeutschen Zeitung praised his interpretation of Beethoven’s late works as “extraordinary and refined”. The British magazine Gramophone spoke highly of his performance of Liszt’s sonata: “He recreates a visionary masterpiece and a landmark in the history of music with exceptional grandeur and lucidity”.
 
ZHANG Haiou studied at the Primary School and Middle School Affiliated to the Central Conservatory of Music, studying under Chinese piano virtuoso ZHOU Guangren and famous piano educators CHEN Manchun, ZHONG Hui, etc. He was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover with Prof. Bernd Goetzke, a renowned German piano educator, and obtained a Doctor’s Degree in Concert Solo. He has won numerous honours, including the Gold Award in the Junior Professional Group of the China Youth Piano Duo Competition, the Silver Award in the Horowitz International Piano Competition, the Gundlach Music Award, etc. In 2016, he won the Dr. Maria Zbick Artist Award.
 
From September to October 2022, ZHANG Haiou participated in several orchestras’ premieres at different German concert halls. He performed Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra at the Berlin Philharmonie and Neues Gewandhaus. He premieres Yellow River Piano Concerto with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. He presented Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 414 at the Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg Symphony Hall and Philharmonie Essen. In November of the same year, he gave a wonderful piano recital in Tokyo on invitation and was interviewed by several Japanese classical music media outlets.
 
In the season 2023/24, ZHANG Haiou delivered a heavyweight recital at the Konzerthaus Berlin in celebration of the 170th anniversary of the founding of the C. Bechstein. He recorded Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 32 and Liszt’s Sonata in B Minor at the Elba Concert Hall in Vienna. ZHANG Haiou has performed several concertos, including the collaborations with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in Doha, with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra in premiering Yellow River Piano Concerto in Bogota, and with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie in giving five performances of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3. In Germany, he cooperated with violinist YANG Tianwa, delivering six performances of Beethoven’s works.
 
Since 2010, ZHANG Haiou has released five solo albums worldwide through Hänssler CLASSIC, a world-renowned record label. Mozart piano concerto CD II with NDR Philharmonic String Players is nominated in two categories - “Instrumentalist of the year” and “Concerto recording of the year” by German Music Award OPUS KLASSIK. His extraordinary performances can be heard on leading European and American radio channels, Lufthansa international flights, and in Netflix drama Money Heist. In November 2020, Beethoven Piano Sonatas 109＆111, and adaptations of Bach’s works recorded in his solo album My 2020 were nominated for ICMA, one of the highest international prizes for classical music recordings.
 
ZHANG Haiou was an artist-in-residence of the Nurnberg Symphony Orchestra in 2022, and an artist-in-residence at the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra before that. He has cooperated with orchestras including the NDR Radiophilharmonie, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Bochum Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Chamber Orchestra, Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, Staatskapelle Brunswick, Staatskapelle Oldenburg, Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn, Philharmonie Südwestfalen, Bremerhaven Philharmonic Orchestra, Ontario Philharmonic, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Belgium, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Estonian Sinfonietta, Ukrainian State Symphony Orchestra, Polish Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Slovak Sinfonietta, East Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Russian National Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Siberia Symphony Orchestra, Voronezh State Symphony Orchestra, Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmonica della Calabria, Xiamen Philharmonic, Wuhan Philharmonic, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, etc.
 
ZHANG Haiou has performed as a soloist at the internationally acclaimed concert halls including Gasteig Munich, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Beethovenhaus Bonn, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Brucknerhaus Linz, Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore, Shanghai Grand Theatre, Sala São Paulo, etc. He has appeared at important international festivals including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Kissinger Sommer, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Augsburg Mozart Festival, Würzburg Bach Festival, Festival International de Musique de Besançon in France, International Music Festival Trecastagni in Italy, Festival de Música de Sant Pere de Rodes in Spain, etc.
 
As accomplished chamber musician, ZHANG Haiou has established a long-term partnership with the Berlin Philharmonic String Quartet, Elbphilharmonie Quartet, Quatuor Diotima, Vision String Quartet, Hermes String Quartet, violinists Eldbjørg Hemsing, YANG Tianwa, Sarah Christian, Friederike Starkloff and Solenne Paidassi, and cellists Leonid Gorokho, Benedict Kloeckner, Alexander Hülshoff and Christoph Heesch.
 
Beside ZHANG Haiou’s concert career, he is also the Music Director of ZHANG Haiou International Music Festival, which enjoys a high reputation in Northern Germany. In 2020 and 2021, he served as the Artistic Director of the International Music Festival in Germany and Concerts Grand Salon in Zürich. He has held hundreds of concerts and gained social influence. He has been a contracted resident classical artist of the world’s top luxury liner MS Europa 2 since 2011.

  2022年9月至10月，张海鸥在德国的各大殿堂级音乐厅连续成功进行了数场重要乐团首演，其中包括与德国莱比锡爱乐乐团在柏林爱乐大厅与莱比锡布商大厦音乐厅合作《柴科夫斯基第一钢琴协奏曲》，与德国纽伦堡交响乐团在汉堡易北爱乐大厅首演《黄河钢琴协奏曲》，在纽伦堡名歌手交响大厅以及埃森爱乐大厅上演莫扎特《钢琴协奏曲K414》。同年11月，受邀在日本东京成功举办个人钢琴独奏会并接受日本多家古典音乐资深媒体专访。
  2023/24乐季，张海鸥在柏林音乐厅成功举办重量级个人独奏音乐会，并为贝希斯坦钢琴170周年庆祝活动，在维也纳的埃尔巴音乐厅录制贝多芬《第32钢琴奏鸣曲》和李斯特《B小调奏鸣曲》现场音乐会。协奏曲方面，张海鸥曾与卡塔尔爱乐乐团在多哈合作《柴科夫斯基第一钢琴协奏曲》，与哥伦比亚国家交响乐团在波哥大合作首演《黄河钢琴协奏曲》，同德国西北德爱乐乐团在德国巡演五场拉赫玛尼诺夫《第三钢琴协奏曲》。在德国，张海鸥还曾与小提琴家杨天娲合作进行六场贝多芬作品的巡演。除此之外他将重返新加坡在维多利亚音乐厅举办独奏会，并将在中国国家大剧院、广州星海音乐厅、深圳音乐厅、武汉琴台音乐厅等地举行巡演。
  2010年至今，国际知名唱片厂牌hänssler CLASSIC德国汉斯勒唱片公司已先后为张海鸥录制并在全球发行五张个人专辑。其中，《莫扎特第12、13钢琴协奏曲》获得德国音乐大奖OPUS KLASSIK“年度独奏家”和“年度协奏曲” 两项重要提名。目前在欧美各大电台广播、汉莎航空国际航班，乃至Netflix热播剧集《纸钞屋》中，能够欣赏到张海鸥非凡的钢琴演绎。2020年11月，张海鸥录制的个人专辑《我的2020》贝多芬钢琴奏鸣曲作品109＆111以及巴赫改编曲等荣获国际古典音乐唱片最高奖项之一的ICMA提名。他为该唱片公司录制的第六张专辑将于2023年全球发行。

  张海鸥还身兼数职，从2010年起一直担任北德地区享有盛名的张海鸥国际音乐节艺术总监，并于2020年、2021年相继出任德国国际音乐季、瑞士苏黎世CONCERTS GRAND SALON艺术总监。至今他已成功策划数百场音乐会并且拥有着庞大的艺术家网络以及社会影响力。除此之外，自2011年起他还是世界顶级豪华游轮MS Europa 2的常驻签约古典艺术家。
