Zylan ne chantera plus c'est d'abord une histoire vraie. Celle d'un jeune chanteur homosexuel devenu pop star dans son pays. Arrêté puis incarcéré, il finit par disparaître.
S’inspirant de cette histoire, Yann Verburgh a écrit le texte de l’œuvre, résonnant de questions sur la haine homophobe et le danger, parfois mortel, qu'elle fait peser sur ses victimes. La pièce, d’une portée universelle, mêle voix parlée et chantée. Elle est mise en scène par Richard Brunel. Un chanteur-acteur et trois instruments – violoncelle, guitare et percussions – font vivre cette histoire, sur une partition pleine de fougue et d’imagination de Diana Soh, une inventeuse musicale dans la lignée de Ligeti.
Destiné à tous les publics dès l'adolescence, cet opéra engagé raconte, dénonce et fait écho aux violences subies en divers points de notre monde par celles et ceux dont l’orientation sexuelle est jugée dissidente.

Zylan will no longer sing it is first of all a true story. That of a young homosexual singer who became a pop star in his country. Arrested and then imprisoned, he eventually disappeared.
Inspired by this story, Yann Verburgh wrote the text of the work, resonating with questions about homophobic hatred and the danger, sometimes mortal, that it poses to its victims. The piece, of universal scope, mixes spoken and sung voices. It is directed by Richard Brunel. A singer-actor and three instruments – cello, guitar and percussion – bring this story to life, on a score full of passion and imagination by Diana Soh, a musical inventor in the tradition of Ligeti.
Intended for all audiences from adolescence, this committed opera recounts, denounces and echoes the violence suffered in various parts of our world by those whose sexual orientation is considered dissenting.
