Identifying talent, nurturing it and helping to realize its potential is what the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance is all about. Its 3 institutions, the conservatory, the high school and the Academy welcome through their doors 1600 talented young people every day, some starting as young as the age of 4 and continuing to as old as when they are primed for their adult careers. They come to learn, create and express their commitment to music and dance.
JAMD is unique in providing opportunity at every age level. Internationally acclaimed members of the faculty not only work with students at the academy level, but many are involved in activities and performing groups at the conservatory and high school. Students from the academy can be found performing regularly in a conservatory/high school performance and younger children perform at the academy.
 
The professors and teachers at JAMD are the finest in Israel and many are active internationally as highly acclaimed artists in the world of music and dance. JAMD fosters international ties with other schools of music and dance encouraging student exchange programs so that its students are current with all new developments.
 
The curriculum at JAMD is dynamic, a mix of academic study and practical professional experience. Innovation is a constant at JAMD offering a continually expanding variety of possibilities for study. The blend of cultures in its courses of study is reflective of the diverse backgrounds of its faculty and students. The result is an atmosphere where Middle-eastern music, European classical music, jazz and baroque are all taught under one roof. The field of dance includes classical ballet, modern dance, improvisation and a Department of Movement and Movement Notation, a field that has been pioneered at JAMD.

האקדמיה למוסיקה ולמחול בירושלים היא מוסד להשכלה גבוהה, מוביל בישראל בתחומי היצירה, הביצוע וההוראה של מוסיקה ומחול, מוסמך להעניק תארים אקדמיים. ייעודה של האקדמיה בא לידי ביטוי גם בפעילותם של שני מוסדות-בת  יוקרתיים שלה, הממוקמים בצמוד לה: בית ספר תיכון וקונסרבטוריון.

בקמפוס המקסים  שבגבעת רם, למעלה מ-  1800 צעירים שאפתנים מממשים מדי יום את יכולותיהם בסביבה תומכת ומעודדת. סטודנטים ותלמידים נהנים ממגוון אפשרויות לימודיות בנושאי מוסיקה ומחול נרחבים המשתרעים מתקופת הבארוק דרך מוסיקה קלאסית ועד לג'אז ולמוסיקה מזרחית כמו גם לימודים והכשרה בתחומי המחול הקלאסי והמודרני, תנועה וכתב תנועה. הלימודים באקדמיה מתקיימים במגוון מסלולי הכשרה במסגרת ארבע פקולטות: הפקולטה לאמנויות הביצוע, הפקולטה לקומפוזיציה, ניצוח וחינוך מוסיקלי, הפקולטה למוסיקה רב-תחומית והפקולטה למחול.

מורי האקדמיה ובוגריה נמנים עם מיטב האמנים בישראל וברחבי העולם כמנצחים, סולנים, מבצעים ומלחינים בתזמורות, בתי אופרה והרכבים קאמריים וכן כוריאוגרפים, ורקדנים בלהקות מחול המצוינות ביותר.האקדמיה למוסיקה ולמחול בירושלים שמה לה למטרה לקדם חינוך מוסיקלי בישובי הפריפריה במסגרת תוכניות ייחודיות, ובכללן  פר"ח. סטודנטים רבים לוקחים חלק בפעילויות אלה הזוכות להצלחה רבה והממשיכות להתרחב.

אמנים בינלאומיים, מהשורה הראשונה, מקדישים מזמנם כדי לסייע בפיתוח האקדמיה באמצעות כיתות אמן וסדנאות לסגל ולתלמידים. ביוזמת האקדמיה, מתקיימים מדי שנה כ - 300 הופעות שונות בארץ ובחו"ל המאפשרות לצעירים מוכשרים התנסות בימתית וחשיפה אישית. האקדמיה וסגל ההוראה ידועים ברחבי העולם במצוינותם. בוגריה של האקדמיה וסגל ההוראה הם מהבולטים שבין המוסיקאים ואנשי המחול בארץ, וממיצגיה החשובים ביותר ברחבי העולם.
