Tenor Tuomas Miettola sang the role of rich landowner Fritz in the performance recorded March 29. During my considerably long career as a critic, I cannot recall ever hearing a more beautiful Finnish lyric tenor voice. Miettola’s voice has brilliance, agility and height. His vocal technique is confident, phrasing stylized and musical lines elegant.
