Bio: In the summer of 2010 Ms. Mouhlen made a critically acclaimed debut in the spintorepertoire, as Leonora in Il Trovatore, with the Orchestra Rossini di Pesaro, directed by Maestro Agiman and staged by Hiroki Ihara. Another debut followed in the title role Aida, under direction of Stefano Giaroli, at Teatro Cavour in Imperia. In the same year she sang the soprano role in Carmina Burana by Orff at the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, conducted by Martin van der Brugge. In 2012 the soprano’s debut in the title role in Verdi’s Giovanna d’ Arco at the Stadschouwburg of Velsen, The Netherlands, under the baton of Marco Bons and staged by Martin Driessen, followed by additional debutes in the role of Nedda in I Pagliacci and in the role of Elvira in Ernani. She was then featured at The Grand New Year’s Concert at the Auditorium De Doelen, Rotterdam. In February 2013 Ms. Mouhlen received an invitation to debute the title role in Turandot with the Central Florida Opera of the United States, for which she was honored with "The Inspiring Artist Reward". April audiences again saw the soprano at the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam in Verdi’s Messa di Requiem under direction of Martin van der Brugge. In the summer of 2013 she debuted in the role of Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera in Mantova followed by her debut in the role of Abigaille in Nabucco in Avenza, with Stefano Giaroli. Other roles she performed that summer were: Nedda in I Pagliacci, Aida at the Ariston Theatre of Sanremo and Leonora in Il Trovatore, at the Dei Marsi Theatre of Avezzano. In Novembre she made a very succesful debute in the role of Odabella in Attila at the Superga Theatre of Nichelino staged by Paolo Bosisio. At the Canteri Theatre of Chiavari (in co-prodution with the Alfiero Theatre of Asti) she debuted the title role in Norma, staged by Carlo Antonio De Lucia. At the end of the year, she was invited to sing the Grand New Years Concert at the Dal Verme Theatre of Milano with I Pomeriggi Musicali under direction of Daniele Agiman. The year 2014 started with the soprano’s debut in her first Wagner role: Sieglinde in Die Walküre in Utrecht (NL), under direction of Marco Bons, staged by Fred Florusse. Thereafter, she debuted in the role of Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana at the Superga Theatre of Nichelino and the role of Maddalena in Andrea Chenier at Bergamo. In February she sang Verdi's Messa di Requiem at Utrecht, The Netherlands. April audiences saw her again at the Ariston Theatre of Sanremo in the role of Abigaille in Nabucco and in May she interpreted Aida in the Chassé Theatre of Breda. In the summer she sang Leonora in il Trovatore at Rapallo, under direction of Lorenzo Tazzieri and at the International Festival of San Galgano she sang Nabucco, under the baton of Lorenzo Castriota Skanderberg staged by Guido Zamara. She then sang the role of Tosca at the Verdi Theatre of Montecatini , Aida al Teatro d'Annunzio di Latina and Turandot at the Cantero Theatre of Chiavari, The Superga Theatre of Nichelino and the Cavour Theatre of Imperia. In decembre she debuted the role of Manon Lescaut at Bergamo. At the beginning of 2015 she was invited again to sing at the Grand new Years Concert at the De Doelen Auditorium of Rotterdam.In febbruari she sang Norma at Bresso and Bergamo and in march she made a very succesful debut in the role of Lady Macbeth at the Tivoli-Vredenburg Auditorium of Utrecht, The Netherlands. Under the baton of Lorenzo Tazzieri she sang Tosca at the Ariston Theatre of Sanremo, staged by Tomas Pilar. At the Burgfestspiele of Dreieichenhahner, Germany, she sang Nabucco, conducted by Rhodi Britton. At the Luglio Musicale Trapanese Festival she sang a critically acclaimed Turandot, conducted by Matteo Beltrami, staged by Renato Bonajuto. During the Puccini Days, she was invited to sing an opera recital at the Del Giglio Theatre of Lucca, under the baton of Marco Balderi. In 2016 she sang Nabucco at the De Doelen auditorium of Rotterdam, followed by Tosca at the Toselli Theatre di Cuneo, Italy, conducted by Paul-Emmanuel Thomas and at Irun, Spain, conducted by Aldo Salvagno. In may she sang the role of Aida at the Stadsschouwburg Velsen, The Netherlands. She was then invited to sing princess Turandot at the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, Skopje, conducted by Gianluca martinenghi and staged by Giancarlo Del Monaco. Ms.Mouhlen excels in concert repertoire as well, including performances of Les Nuitsd’été by Berlioz , Miroire de Peine by Hendryk Andriessen , Tropici del Nord by Carlo Galante (World-premiere), Vier Letzte Lieder by Strauss, Bachianas Brasileiras by Villa-Lobos, Mirror of Perfection by Blackford , Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini ,the Carmina Burana by Orff , Die Wesendoncklieder by Wagner and Verdi’s Messa di Requiem. She has performed on prestigious concert platforms in: Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, England, France, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, The United States and South America. "Nel ruolo della protagonista il soprano olandese Gabrielle Mouhlen, ci regala momenti di grande intensità grazie a un canto sempre corretto e dalla grande facilità nel settore acuto, mantenendo una ricca corposità lungo tutta la gamma vocale. Una vera fuoriclasse dotata di una bellezza fuori dal comune, sostiene il difficile ruolo di Aida con estrema facilità dalla prima all’ultima nota, una esecuzione che raramente è possibile apprezzare nei teatri “che contano”. Impossibile credere che questa artista venga poco apprezzata in Italia, forse i direttori artistici dei teatri, ancorati ai dettami delle agenzie dovrebbero scendere dai loro piedistalli e andare in provincia ed ascoltare con le proprie orecchie e non su You Tube, cosa si stanno perdendo."

Gabielle Mouhlen si è rivelata una Turandot davvero altera, rendendo appieno l’immagine della Principessa che si autodefinisce: “Cosa umana non sono!”. Vocalmente è parsa adatta al personaggio: timbro personalissimo, il soprano olandese si è fatta apprezzare per lo squillo e l’ottima modulazione della voce, evitando di cedere al grido con cui molte risolvono la parte, curando bene il fraseggio e con un accento convincente.

Ecco un nome da tenere bene a mente: Gabrielle Mouhlen, soprano olandese attivo molto in Italia. Ha cantato in modo superbo la parte di Odabella nell’Attila che inaugurava la Stagione 2013/14 del Teatro Superga. Ammetto che per me è stata una piacevole sorpresa: sapendo quanto difficile sia la parte del soprano in quest’opera ero quasi rassegnato a ricorrere alla comprensione e all’indulgenza che ho in genere nei confronti di chi affronta tali imprese canore. Invece…. appena ascolto “Santo di patria indefinito amor!” quasi non credo alle mie orecchie, ma la sorpresa non finisce lì: l’aria che apre il I atto è un vero incanto che strappa applausi a scena aperta. Mi sembra che nel ruolo di Odabella fosse al suo debutto: caspita!!!
