Jill Grove makes Clytemnestra’s worldview clear and her feelings of guilt sympathetic, despite the garish makeup and dystopian costumery. She is plausible both as murderer and penitent.

Jill Grove almost steals the show as a Clytemnestra wracked with guilt-driven nightmares. Her mix of malice, terror, fury and vulnerability is conveyed in everything from rich mezzo tones to raw snarls and mannish chest voice.
