This is a different approach to the aria. With ornaments and an interpolated Bb, the performance electrified the audience.  

In this production, Don Ottavio had some previous trauma with weapons which made the stakes for going to duel with Giovanni that much more of a high-stakes proposition. His references to his hand were the indicators that all was not quite right and were on display in the Act i finale, where Ottavio could not dispatch with Cassanova.
