Daejeon Arts Center opened a new horizon in culture and arts with its majestic opening on October 1, 2003. As the most prized possession of the city of Daejeon, transforming itself into a cultural and artistic city in Korea, it has been playing its role most ardently.
As a cultural and artistic space equipped with advanced systems, it has contributed to raising the overall standard of living for the citizens of Daejeon by providing more opportunities of enjoying culture and art as well as chances for invaluable leisure.

Providing schedules and programs reflecting the seasons has allowed the center to become the subject of much benchmarking by other performance groups.
This shows how successful the Daejeon Arts Center has become. Based on our detailed analysis of the preferences of the audience, we have come up with more audience-oriented performances(in series) which has helped raise the satisfaction of the audience in addition to securing a wider spectrum of audience that will translate into regular attendance. Furthermore, we have remained dedicated to house-produced opera and plays which remain somewhat of a challenge for performance halls not blessed with the expertise and specialized personnel such as ours.
Our accumulation of knowledge in production has enabled us to expand our sphere of involvement to outside the Daejeon area to help us put on performances in association with nearby cities and to contribute to balanced promotion and growth of regional culture and art.

We have also been involved in several meaningful projects such as the music academy for the identification and education of the gifted, culture and art education to provide opportunities to understanding and appreciating art, performance training program to nurture specialists in performance arts, school music concerts and open house schemes to allow the public to gain understanding of performance etiquettes and general knowledge through back stage tours, YODJAC that offers young people to perform in orchestras and gain stage experience as well as SNAC which involves selecting young musicians to perform on stage as a means to prepare them for the professional world of music.

Culture and art in life will have serious implications in the 21st century. Daejeon Arts Center intends to accommodate such a demand and shall work to improve the overall standard of living for the citizens of Daejeon through its commitment to a high standard in performance.

Many ancient cultures believed there were five elements to life on our planet: earth, air, water, fire and aether. Of them all, aether comes closest to describing the essence of music: spiritual, ephemeral and deeply mysterious.

Over the course of four weeks of shared music-making in the beautiful grounds of Dartington Hall, we will celebrate the ethereal power of music through the other four elements. We will journey from the watery beginnings of Monteverdi’s 1610 Vespers in Venice and the fiery drama of Handel’s biblical oratorio Athalia, to the earthy lament of Brahms’ Requiem and the airy mysticism of choral music by Vaughan Williams.

There are classes for advanced players, enthusiastic amateurs and complete beginners, family-friendly workshops and courses, and mindfulness and yoga sessions. There are also opportunities in every week to flex your creative muscles in writing, radio making and composition. There really is something for everyone.

Darwin Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has been a treasured community institution for 30 years. Comprising 95 volunteer musicians and a small professional core, DSO reflects the diverse and vibrant communities in Darwin and the Northern Territory.

The orchestra’s identity as an accessible and essential community resource is built on a commitment to bringing exceptional performances to all corners of the Northern Territory. From floating on pontoons in Nitmiluk Gorge, to performing on a working barge on Darwin Harbour, and becoming the first symphony orchestra to perform at Uluru, DSO truly reflects the Territory’s unique cultural geography.

Since 2012, Darwin Symphony Orchestra has reached thousands of children and families with its education programs. With an in-school program reaching remote areas of the Territory; as well as an engaging and accessible Kids’ Classics program in Darwin, DSO has brought inspiring classical music to many children.

Dayton Opera prepares a daring, bold, and wide-ranging season of song and staged works. From the first meetings of its founders in the fall of 1960, Dayton Opera has enriched the cultural life of the Miami Valley. Dayton Opera’s nearly 60-year history began when Dayton Opera performed its first season in 1961–1962. In 2003, Dayton Opera moved to its new home at the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center, enabling the company to produce bigger and better productions in an acoustically superior theatre. Artistic Director Thomas Bankston and Dayton Opera present four programs each season over eight dates, including a Season Opening Spectacular, engaging operas from the classic repertoire, such as The Barber of Seville, Otello and Madame Butterfly, groundbreaking new works from thought-provoking 20th-century composers, such as The Consul and Dead Man Walking, and grand sweeping operatic events, from Aida to La bohème to Carmen. Dayton Opera has proven itself as a world-class opera company, attracting richly talented vocalists and stage directors from across the country and around the world.
