No matter what academic program you choose, you’ll have numerous opportunities to put what you’ve learned in your lessons to the test—live, on stage.

There are more than 1,100 performances each year—and more than three dozen ensembles you can perform with, focusing on just about any type and genre of music you can think of.

The Jerusalem Lyric Opera Studio is established for the promotion of the art of opera, and the nurturing of young talent in Israel as well as from abroad, through the intensive and individually tailored instruction by a renowned faculty of artists of international acclaim from the Teatro Alla Scala Milano, Opera National de Paris, Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Vienna Staatsoper among others. Such complimentary training is paramount for the successful transition of young singers from an academic setting onto the professional opera world. By exposing our exceptionally gifted students to the highest of standards and work practices in the music world we will allow them to realize their full potential by honing their craft and developing as true artists. The program under the direction of Dr. Mazar takes place in the core of Jerusalem, Israel. It includes two fully staged opera productions, an opera gala concert with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, a song recital recorded by the Israeli National Radio, concerts of bel canto repertoire, French music, baroque repertoire, voice lessons, and coaching, as well as master classes with weekly changing guest conductors, professors and coaches, international opera competition attended by leading opera directors, casting directors, agents, and organizers.

Our Aims
Our aim is to encourage mutual cultural dialogue amongst nations, creating innovative opportunities to enhance and promote music and opera as one of the highest forms of art and universal language. To spread musical culture amongst new generations, as well as motivate young artists by offering them the opportunity to further their careers and improve their professional technique. To enable our singers to learn and develop through exposure to a wide range of professional backgrounds, through the comparison of different artistic methods. To offer real professional opportunities for employment in the musical world. To create an international network of musical employment involving further educational opportunities, musical training institutions, theaters, and performances. Our teachers all have experience at the top of the profession; for example, the Chief conductor of JLOS, maestro Paolo Spadaro(Teatro Alla Scala Milano), the renowned stage director David Bobee(Artistic Director of the Rouen Opera Theatre), Prof. Markus Hollop(Casting Director of the Geneva Opera Theatre). Opera productions, the opera gala, the recital (recorded by the Israel National Radio), and concerts are all sold-out performances in front of enthusiastic audiences. The bridge to the career is made possible through Jerusalem International Opera Competition for opera and festival directors, and casting directors. All who join us at JLOS are personally invited and are trusted members of our industry. All singers receive personal feedback, and the list of engagements that result from these auditions is long. We expect that our singers are vocally stable and ready for entry into the profession, be that into an opera studio, as a guest, or as a „fest“ member of an opera ensemble. We are looking for singers who bring along charismatic personalities and are strong, authentic artists. We look forward immensely to hearing you!

Jerusalem Lyric Opera Studio & Festival

The JMC was founded in 1973 by legendary violinist Isaac Stern and Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kollek, with the assistance of Yad Hanadiv (a Rothschild foundation) and the Jerusalem Foundation. in the last decade the world renowned pianist Murry Perahia has been leadin the JMC as its president.

Our goals
To cultivate outstanding young musicians from all over Israel, while building customized programs to develop their skills, both as soloists and in ensemble and orchestra. To creating a suitable environment for young Israeli musicians to meet, learn and be inspired by the greatest musicians in the world as well by as each other.
To serve as a world-class musical center in the heart of the capital of Israel, which enriches the city and its residents with concerts at the highest level, to offer an advanced and high-quality recording studio, and works closely with a variety of cultural and music organizations in the city.
To be Involved in the continuous musical and pedagogical growth of music teachers across the country by making connections with leading musicians and teachers from around the world and exposing them to both new and traditional ideas in music teaching.
From its inception, the State of Israel enjoyed a rich musical life, which has consistently produced some of the best classical musicians in the world. The Jerusalem Music Centre strives to nourish every new generation of young Israeli musicians with the same love, passion and respect for art that have been the lot of their predecessors, and of the great musicians for centuries.  

In the JMC’s programs exceptional youngsters from all over the country are gathered together and embark on a challenging journey that include encounters with leading musicians from Israel and abroad, chamber music and orchestra playing as well as musical enrichment in various fields.

During these activities, a community is formed in which the young musicians and artists who guide them participate. This special community encourages young musicians in their formative years, inspires them and instills in them the understanding and recognition that there is always more to understand, experience and express in the language of music.

The JMC presents prestigious concert series in Jerusalem featuring ensembles and soloists from around the world and the best musicians in Israel. 

Adjacent to the fine and inspiring acoustic space is the Music Centre’s recording studio, one of the most modern and leading studios in Israel, where recordings by Israeli and international artists are regularly held.

The Jerusalem Music Centre operates with the support of the Jerusalem Municipality, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Goldman family, the Azrieli Foundation, the Sano Company, the Jerusalem Foundation, Yad Hanadiv, and other private donors.

Jeunesses Musicales Belgrade, a non-profit organization aimed at the promotion of culture, music education and empowerment of youth, was founded in 1954. Since 1962 is a member of Jeunesses Musicales International – JMI, with headquarter in Brussels, and since 1974. is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions – WFIMC, located in Geneva.



What do we do?
Some of the mainstreams of our organization are support and promotion of the young musicians, education, introduction of all music genres to young people, encouragement of musical and cultural creativity of the youth and raising the cultural level of the communities where we operate through the variety of projects (Summer Festival Kalemegdan’s Dusks, International Jeunesses Musicales Competition Belgrade – IJMC Belgrade, Summer Sacral Academy in Studenica – choral workshops, concerts for children and youth – Musical Saturdays, concerts in schools, exchange of artists in the country and abroad, workshops, round tables...)...



JMB connects
Jeunesses Musicales exist for children and youth to permanently sustain them with music, but with other ranges of art as well. JMB is a network of music artists who enthusiastically take part in our programs. The artists of the highest quality and artistic achievements participate in the existing work of JMB.

Another strong component of the past development of Jeunesses Musicales are music artists. The common feature of all the artists is will to enthusiastically perform in the Jeunesses Musicales programs and belief in the organizational capabilities of Jeunesses Musicales. Jeunesses Musicales is mostly oriented to quality and carefully selected artists whose performing quality reaches the highest artistic achievements.



JMB and membership
Jeunesses Musicales was established for the realization of program actions through all stages of its existence. All of its program action Jeunesses Musicales has adjusted to the age, cognitive and educational level of its members and those whom is it intended. Also, efforts to continuity of action are provided in order to foster natural opting of membership.

70 years promoting music in Canada!

JM Canada (Jeunesses Musicales Canada) was born on August 23, 1949 following a meeting between Father J.H. Lemieux, Anaïs Allard-Rousseau, and Laurette Desruisseaux-Boisvert, who were brought together in St-Hyacinthe on the initiative of Gilles Lefebvre. Lefebvre suggested linking all the existing societies devoted to cultural activities among young people, and submitted a plan of action calling for concert tours, new lines of administrative co-operation, scholarships, a summer camp, a permanent home, and exchanges between young performers.
 
JM Canada is affiliated with JM International (JMI), considered by UNESCO as the world’s leading cultural organization dedicated to youth and music. JM Canada is supported by the JM Canada Foundation as well as the three levels of government. 
 
During a Season, JM Canada (JMC) presents some 1,600 concerts and workshops with more than 120 artists, creators and presenters in Québec, Ontario and Maritimes. All in all, the JMC concert tours visit more than 130 Canadian cities in a year. This is why JMC is the most important classical music distributor and producer in Canada, with an annual audience of 130,000 (including 103,000 children ages 3 to 12).

The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, informally referred to as the JPO, was formed in May 2000 by a group of committed and resilient musicians. We perform a regular series of Symphony Seasons, attracting the best of international / local soloists and conductors, as well as being the orchestra of choice for State functions in Gauteng.

With a sincere commitment to consistently high standards in performance, our aim is to not only deliver quality performances to audiences, but to establish a benchmark for aspirant musicians. This includes those who are tutored through the JPO’s own educational arm (the Academy), as well as those who perform in the many youth orchestras and ensembles around Gauteng.

The JPO strives to be nationally and internationally recognised as the country’s leading philharmonic orchestra, ensuring the ongoing sustainability and growth of music traditions. One of our main focus areas is to make music as accessible to our broader community as possible. We also endeavour to challenge the prevailing perception of classical music performances being elitist and Euro-centric, by appealing to our local audience, with performances that incorporate the greatest examples of both classical and South African music genres.
