Der Komponist Bedřich Smetana nimmt uns mit in sein ›Vaterland‹. Angefangen bei den beiden Moldauquellen geht es auf dem größten Fluss Tschechiens durch Wälder und Landschaften, wo gerade eine Bauernhochzeit gefeiert wird. Beim nächtlichen Mondschein tanzen die Wassergeister, und auf den nahen Felsen ragen stolze Burgen empor. Die Moldau wirbelt in Stromschnellen und fließt im breiten Zug weiter nach Prag, bevor sie in der Ferne schließlich in die Elbe mündet.

The composer Bedřich Smetana takes us to his fatherland. Starting from its two sources, the Vltava, also known as the Moldau, – Czechia’s biggest river – passes through forests and landscapes where the local farmers are in the middle of celebrating a wedding. At night, the water sprites dance by the light of the moon, and imposing castles rise up from nearby cliffs. The rapids of the Vltava swirl and spin, and then the river broadens out and flows on to Prague before finally joining the river Elbe far away in the distance.
