Händels eigener Weg führte ihn nach London, wo er all jene seiner Ideen verwirklichen konnte, die ihm in Deutschland verwehrt geblieben waren. Vor allem auf theatralem Gebiet reüssierte er; so auch mit seiner „Wassermusik“, die anlässlich der königlichen Bootsfahrten auf der Themse erklungen ist und die Ausflüge zu Ereignissen machte. Eine musikalische Verwandtschaft mit der „Wassermusik“ besteht zum Konzert in F-Dur, das in zeitlicher und thematischer Nähe entstand. Frei nach dem Pasticcio-Prinzip werden hier beide Werke sinnreich zusammengestellt. Auf dem Höhepunkt seiner Karriere 1739 schrieb Händel innerhalb nur eines Monats zwölf Concerti grossi, von denen jedes einzelne ein Meisterwerk ist. Die hochvirtuose Motette „Silete, venti“ ist ein selten gehörtes Werk, um das sich auch entstehungsgeschichtliche Rätsel ranken. Das Manuskript stammt zwar aus dem Jahr 1724, jedoch wurde das Werk erst 1873 veröffentlicht; noch bis heute kann man von einer Entdeckung sprechen.

Handel's own path led him to London, where he was able to realize all of his ideas that were denied to him in Germany. He was particularly successful in the theatrical field; so also with his "water music", which was played on the occasion of the royal boat trips on the Thames and made the excursions into events. A musical affinity with the "Water Music" exists in the Concerto in F major, which was written in a similar time and subject area. Freely following the pasticcio principle, both works are brought together here ingeniously. At the peak of his career in 1739, Handel wrote twelve concerti grossi in just one month, each of which is a masterpiece. The highly virtuosic motet “Silete, venti” is a rarely heard work, which is also the subject of enigmas related to the history of its composition. Although the manuscript dates from 1724, the work was not published until 1873; one can still speak of a discovery to this day.
