Yet this is not an evening of supreme sadness. These Trauerode, Actus Tragicus and Du aber Daniel, gehe hin are works that celebrate life in all its poignant beauty. Compositions that look beyond death to the world of endless happiness that awaits in paradise. This is music that goes straight to the heart. Particularly in the hands of Van Mechelen, who in recent years has been creating a profile for himself as both a singer and a conductor. According to BBC Music magazine, with the chamber orchestra a nocte temporis he succeeds in ‘enchanting’ the audience with his intense emotional depth.

Pourtant, la soirée n'est pas empreinte d'une profonde tristesse. Trauerode, Actus Tragicus et Du aber Daniel, gehe hin sont des œuvres célébrant la vie dans toute sa beauté poignante, des compositions qui, au-delà de la mort, contemplent l'univers de bonheur infini qui s'annonce au Paradis. Cette musique va droit au cœur, surtout entre les mains de Van Mechelen, qui ces dernières années ne s'est pas seulement distingué comme chanteur, mais aussi comme chef d'orchestre.
