Attila der Hunnenkönig befehligte im 5. Jahrhundert ein kriegerisches Volk – und regt mit seinen kühnen Taten bis heute immer wieder die Fantasie von Künstlern an. Giuseppe Verdi legte seiner Oper „Attila" (1846) die gleichnamige romantische Tragödie von Zacharias Werner zugrunde. In leuchtenden Orchesterfarben, packenden Arien und Ensembles sowie effektvollen Chören werden dabei Aufstieg und Fall eines Machtmenschen nachgezeichnet.

Attila the Hun ruled a warlike people in the 5th century – and his daring deeds continue to stimulate the imagination of artists to this day. Giuseppe Verdi based his opera "Attila" (1846) on the romantic tragedy of the same name by Zacharias Werner. The rise and fall of a powerful man are traced in bright orchestral colours, gripping arias and ensembles as well as effective choruses.
