Bach In The Church: Concert

In a special folder, Johann Sebastian Bach collected movements from various of his sacred compositions, which he probably considered particularly successful. Towards the end of his life, Bach condensed this bundle into what is probably the most important mass setting in music history: the Mass in B minor. With its contrapuntal density and mystical-symbolistic penetration, the monumental work can be understood as the sonorous quintessence of Bach's art of sacred music, which to this day enjoys our greatest admiration.

In einer besonderen Mappe sammelte Johann Sebastian Bach Sätze aus verschiedenen seiner geistlichen Kompositionen, die er vermutlich für besonders gelungen hielt. Gegen Ende seines Lebens verdichtete Bach dieses Konvolut zur wohl bedeutendsten Messvertonung der Musikgeschichte: der Messe in h-Moll. Das monumentale Werk kann in seiner kontrapunktischen Dichte und mystisch-symbolistischen Durchwirkung als klingende Quintessenz der Bach’schen Sakralmusikkunst verstanden werden, die bis heute unsere grösste Bewunderung geniesst.

Dans un dossier spécial, Jean-Sébastien Bach a rassemblé des phrases de plusieurs de ses compositions religieuses qu'il considérait probablement comme particulièrement réussies. Vers la fin de sa vie, Bach a condensé cet ensemble pour composer ce qui est probablement la plus importante mise en musique de messe de l'histoire de la musique : la Messe en si mineur. Par sa densité contrapuntique et son impact mystique et symbolique, cette œuvre monumentale peut être considérée comme la quintessence sonore de l'art de la musique sacrée de Bach, qui jouit encore aujourd'hui de notre plus grande admiration.
