“Handel is my bel canto”, says Anna Prohaska, one of the few star sopranos who openly admit that they can't do much with the brilliant “classic” bel canto roles by Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini - “too much virtuosity, too little Substance". Handel's vocal works are completely different, in which even the most breakneck virtuosity is never superficial and which covers the entire range of drama. In a duet with the equally famous and sought-after countertenor Bejun Mehta, she and KAP relive a love story between woman and man through (almost) the entire opera and oratorio work of Handel: from joyful, harmonious coloratura duets to murder and manslaughter to conciliatory re- Coming together in heaven.
