Operatic love goes ever so wrong, but ends so right — in pure musical ecstasy! On the heels of her stunning success in 2023, Alevtina Ioffe returns to Benaroya Hall to lead the Seattle Symphony in a sparkling program that celebrates opera, dance, and all the rapture and mishaps of courtship. The Bartered Bride Overture is a hilarious romp for orchestra. Richard Strauss’ Suite from Der Rosenkavalier, full of waltzes and opulent love scenes, is paired with the delightful Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor. A musical dance between violin and cello, Brahms’ Double Concerto features our own Concertmaster Noah Geller and Principal Cello Efe Baltacıgil.
