»Willkommen - bienvenue - welcome!« The famous musical begins with this greeting Cabaret , which premiered on Broadway and whose jazzy music brings the Berlin of the 1920s to life, . A seedy conférencier takes the audience into a world in which the pleasure-seeking society defies the worrying developments of everyday life and turns a blind eye to reality. At the end of 1929, the American writer Clifford Bradshaw is on his way from Paris to Berlin to find inspiration for his new novel in the pulsating metropolis. On the train he met the National Socialist Ernst Ludwig, who took advantage of the good faith of foreigners traveling with him to smuggle money across the border. He arranges a room for Clifford in the boarding house of the feisty landlady Fraulein Schneider and gives him the tip to have fun in the hottest establishment in town: the Kit-Kat-Club. The club's jaw-dropping star, Miss Sally Bowles, immediately turns Clifford's head, and the two enter into a passionate affair. But against the background of the impending rule of the National Socialists, the happiness in love does not seem to last long. Clifford tries to convince Sally to go to America with him, away from the city that is beginning to frighten him. But for them all that counts is their dream of a great career. Clifford has to make a decision: stay or go? Or should he just ignore developments in politics?

With Cabaret classic , a musical comes to the big stage of the Anhaltisches Theater, which has not lost its explosiveness even more than 50 years after its premiere.
