Opera Bergen marks the 200th anniversary of Schumann's birth with the Scandinavian premiere of a staged version of his vocal symphonic work Das Paradies und die Peri.

Following its major international collaboration with the National Center for Perming Arts in Mumbai / India in September, Opera Bergen is now ready with a new premiere for its home audience. Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri has long been an undeservedly neglected work, but is now increasingly staged on European stages - both theatrically and as a concert.
With this production, Opera Bergens continues to develop / explore the church room as a scenographic framework for musical-dramatic works that in various ways thematize universal and existential questions for modern man. The work is staged by Reto Nickler , who is a professor of directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna and the soprano Betsy Horne has the main role as Peri - which she also had at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden in Germany last year.

Opera Bergen markerer 200-årsjubileet for Schumanns fødsel med Skandinaviapremiere på iscenesatt versjon av hans vokalsymfoniske verk Das Paradies und die Peri.

Etter sitt store internasjonale samarbeid med National Centre for Perming Arts i Mumbai/India i september, er Opera Bergen nå klar med en ny premiere for sitt hjemmepublikum. Schumanns Das Paradies und die Peri har lenge vært et ufortjent neglisjert verk, men settes nå stadig oftere opp på europeiske scener – både scenisk og som konsert.
Opera Bergens fortsetter med denne produksjonen å utvikle/utforske kirkerommet som scenografisk ramme for musikkdramatiske verk som på ulike måter tematiserer universelle og eksistensielle spørsmål for det moderne mennesket. Verket iscenesettes av Reto Nickler, som er professor i regi ved Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst, Wien og sopranen Betsy Horne har hovedrollen som Peri – som hun også hadde på Staatstheater Wiesbaden i Tyskland i fjor.
