Dead Man Walking is a gripping and multifaceted story of guilt, punishment, desire for revenge and forgiveness. The plot is based on Sister Helen Prejean's book about her experiences when she, as a nun, worked with death row inmates in the United States. The book had a huge impact, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and became an Oscar-winning film. The opera Dead Man Walking premiered at the San Francisco Opera in 2000 and has since made a triumphant march over the United States.

With musical influences from jazz, rock, musical and gospel and a theme that strongly touches, the opera Dead Man Walking has gone straight into the audience's heart.

The opera premiered at Malmö Opera in the autumn of 2006 and was warmly received by both the press and the audience.
