1915, in the midst of the turmoil of the First World War and shortly before the collapse of the k. and k. Dual monarchy, Emmerich Kálmán's operetta Die Csárdásfürstin experienced its brilliant premiere in Vienna and can now be seen on the stage of the Stadttheater Klagenfurt in the 60th year of the composer's death. Choir Director Günter Wallner will be in charge of the musical direction, directed by Tobias scratches, "Ring Award" winner and nominated as "Opera Director of the Year" 2011 (Opernwelt). In addition to members of our music theater ensemble, well-known guests such as Stefanie C. Braun in the title role as well as Gudrun Velisek, Elfriede Schüsseleder, Wolfgang Krassnitzer and Jeff Martin are on stage. In numbers like "Die Mädis vom Chantant", "Gesamt ohne Weiber die Chose nicht" or "Jaj mamam, Bruderherz" Viennese waltz frenzy and fiery csárdá sounds conjure up a changing world in which traditional social obligations are called into question: the successful one Chansonette Sylva Varescu and the young aristocrat Edwin Ronald von und zu Lippert-Weylersheim love each other. At first, however, this love does not seem possible due to family and social constraints that Edwin is unable to fully resist. Only after all sorts of trials and tribulations can the two finally marry, despite their differences in social status: "Let the whole world sink, I've got you!"
