Ihr Seelenzustand spiegelt sich in der Auflösung von Syntax und Tonalität wider. »Streng im Stil von Brahms« indes schuf Schönberg – das traditionelle harmonische Gerüst bewahrend – seine Orchesterfassung von Brahms Klavierquartett g-Moll, in der Tradition und Neuheit eine dialektische Einheit bilden.

Her state of mind is reflected in the dissolution of syntax and tonality. "Strictly in the style of Brahms" meanwhile, Schönberg created his orchestral version of Brahms' Piano Quartet in G minor, in which tradition and novelty form a dialectical unity, while preserving the traditional harmonic structure.
