Evita - a woman becomes a legend! With their successful musical, the authors stage the historical figure of Eva Duarte de Perón larger than life and illuminate a myth: Eva, known as Evita, fights relentlessly for her success and manages to rise from a nightclub in the Argentine province to the capital Buenos Aires, where she quickly became the wife of the Argentine President and unscrupulously influenced the country's political developments. The people, especially the children and the poorest, worship her as a saint and after the tragic death of the first lady, everyone sinks into mourning. Only the student Che remains unimpressed – and not only that: Looking back, he comments on Evita's life with sarcastic words.
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber have been conquering the hearts of the audience with hits like "Don't cry about me, Argentina" since 1978 - Evita is a true musical classic with a guaranteed catchy tune, which Magdeburg-born director Matthias Reichwald is re-staging and with it presents his first production at the Theater Magdeburg.

Mit ihrem Erfolgsmusical stellen die Autoren die historische Figur der Eva Duarte de Perón überlebensgroß auf die Bühne und beleuchten einen Mythos: Eva, genannt Evita, kämpft unaufhaltsam für ihren Erfolg und schafft den Aufstieg aus einem Nachtklub der argentinischen Provinz bis in die Hauptstadt Buenos Aires, wo sie schnell zur Gattin des argentinischen Präsidenten avanciert und skrupellos Einfluss auf die politischen Entwicklungen des Landes nimmt. Das Volk, allen voran die Kinder und Ärmsten, verehren sie wie eine Heilige und nach dem tragischen Tod der First Lady versinkt alles in Trauer. Einzig der Student Che bleibt unbeeindruckt – und nicht nur das: Mit sarkastischen Worten kommentiert er in der Rückschau das Leben Evitas.
Tim Rice und Andrew Lloyd Webber erobern mit Hits wie „Wein nicht um mich, Argentinien“ seit 1978 die Herzen des Publikums – Evita ist ein wahrer Musical-Klassiker mit Ohrwurmgarantie, den der aus Magdeburg stammende Regisseur Matthias Reichwald neu auf die Bühne stellt und damit seine erste Inszenierung am Theater Magdeburg vorlegt.
