Towards the end of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Constitution, there are many reasons to produce what can be called Norway's liberation opera.

Hans Nielsen Hauge - in the form of Johannes - is central to the history of Norwegian society, and had a great influence on what in 1814 was to become Norwegian democracy. As a visionary, with a willingness to take responsibility and lead, even if he encounters opposition to what he believes in. History also shows that he left deep footprints - both in church and community life - despite the fact that in his time he was suspected, punished and exposed to malicious rumors.

Mot slutten av markeringen av 200årsjubileet for Grunnloven er det mange grunner til å produsere det som kan kalles Norges frigjøringsopera.

Hans Nielsen Hauge – i Johannes’ skikkelse – står sentralt i historien om det norske samfunnet, og hadde stor innflytelse på det som i 1814 skulle blir norske demokratiet. Som visjonær, med vilje til å ta ansvar og lede, også om han møter motstand for det han tror på. Historien viser også at det er dype fotspor han satt – både i kirke- og samfunnsliv – til tross for at han i sin samtid ble mistenkeliggjort, straffet og utsatt for ondsinnet ryktespredning.
