HARPAGON IS A GREED? is a new musical written for the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre! Although the work took place in January during General Assembly Week, the premiere is scheduled for the time before Christmas. The music was written by Boris Urbanek, the lyrics by Jiří Krhut, for whom this was the first major collaboration with NDM, and the author of the libretto and the director is Vojtěch Štěpánek, head of drama at NDM. As the title suggests, it is a comedy based on the well-known Molière's The Miser, but the audience will understandably be in for some surprises. The main roles of the musical will be played by Libor Olma, who got the role "on the body" in the sixties, as well as Markéta Procházková / Martina Vlčková, Radek Melša / Adama Živnůstka, Tomáš Novotný / Tomáš Savka, Michaela Danielová / Patricia Janečková and others. To make your wait more pleasant, we present the first music video for the musical - the song What's more?, which you will hear in the finale. The, who watched the annual musical concert on Czech television (10 YEARS OF THE MUSICAL IN OSTRAV 2010–2020), already knows the melody - it sounded at the end of the concert. Marek David shot a video clip with the NDM operetta/musical ensemble and we are bringing it to you today in the premiere!

An original musical based on one of the most famous classic comedies in a spectacular Monty Python style.
Harpagon, a freak whom everyone believes to be disgustingly rich and correspondingly stingy, decides to marry himself, his son, and his daughter. He will host three weddings for the price of one! There's a catch, of course: he decides to marry Marianna, his son Cleante's secret lover. He wants to marry the eager German widow Gerda. And she wants to marry her daughter Eliška, who is the secret lover of the administrator Valéro, to the hundred-year-old millionaire Anselmo... There will be the matchmaker Frosina and a host of crazy Harpagon relatives - i.e. the main characters from other Molière plays! In short, Harpagon as you know it, yet in a brand new guise!

Původní muzikál na motivy jedné z nejslavnějších klasických komedií ve velkolepém montypythonovském duchu.
Harpagon, podivín, o němž se všichni domnívají, že je nechutně bohatý a úměrně tomu i lakomý, se rozhodne, že ožení sebe, svého syna i svou dceru. Uspořádá tři svatby za cenu jedné! Je tu samozřejmě háček: rozhodne se vzít si Mariannu, tajnou milenku svého syna Kleanta. Toho chce oženit s dychtivou německou vdovou Gerdou. A svou dceru Elišku, která je tajnou milenkou správce Valéra, chce provdat za stoletého milionáře Anselma… Chybět nebude dohazovačka Frosina a plejáda roztodivných Harpagonových příbuzných – tedy hlavních figur z dalších Molièrových her! Zkrátka Harpagon tak, jak jej znáte, přesto ve zbrusu novém hávu!
