Basierend auf dem gleichnamigen Meilenstein der deutschen Filmgeschichte, begeben sich auch die Helden des Musicals, Martin Brest und Rudi Wurlitzer, auf ihre letzte große Reise – getreu dem Motto: das Meer sehen und sterben. Denn Martin leidet an einem Gehirntumor, Rudi an Knochenkrebs. Gemeinsam flüchten sie aus dem Krankenhaus und stehlen ein Auto, um zum ersehnten Meer zu gelangen. Dumm nur, dass der Wagen zwei Gangstern gehört, die auf einer ganz anderen Mission sind … Es beginnt ein wahnwitziger Roadtrip, inklusive Banküberfall, Flucht vor der Polizei und der Erfüllung des letzten Wunsches der beiden todkranken Protagonisten, die die beste Zeit ihres Lebens haben …
