To create this jubilant delirium of two-act music with phenomenal energy, Rossini asked his librettist Jacopo Ferretti to rid Perrault's tale of its magical elements. True to his reputation, in just three weeks he created a comedy triumph: of Don Magnifico's three daughters, Clorinda, Tisbé and Angelina (known as Cenerentola), which is the most beautiful and the most generous?
