And yet gripping music theater. – An unusual creation brings two highlights of song literature to the stage under the title La Reine / The Queen: Les nuits d’été by Hector Berlioz and Richard Wagner’s famous Wesendonck songs. It takes an exceptional artist like Angela Denoke, who is one of the leading singers of her generation, to make these darkly romantic works shine. According to Thomas Bischoff's conception, the two cycles from the middle of the 19th century are combined with existential texts by Arthur Rimbaud and Gottfried Benn, which form the third element of this Franco-German evening.
