Director Elisabeth Stöppler returns to Hanover and researches Trionfo. Four Last Nights with music by George Frideric Handel and Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele , again after moments of transition: between this world and the afterlife, anger and despair, consolation and love. In the space of the theatre, shared between the audience and the participants for the duration of the performance, the major themes are carefully taken up – and transformed into questions. Because the mystery of life knows more questions than answers...

Messa da Requiembased on Giuseppe Verdi's powerful funeral mass, which the Italian wrote in the 1870s at the height of his career as an opera composer. It is characterized by a floating thoughtfulness: the choir’s songs hang over the orchestral sounds like wafts of fog, four soloists raise their voices in lamentation and prayer. And again and again the desperation of the Last Judgment breaks through the calm like hammer blows.

The scenic adaptation of the Requiem, conducted by James Hendry, expands the conceptual space to the elusive edges of human existence: a place of remembrance emerges, for the celebration of life.
