An diesem besonderen Chorabend mit Raphaël Pichon und seinem Ensemble Pygmalion wird Mozarts berühmtes Requiem, das der Komponist selbst auf dem Totenbett nicht mehr vollenden konnte, mit zahlreichen unbekannten Vokalwerken Mozarts verwoben, die thematisch ums Lebensende kreisen. Doch in diesen teilweise schlichten Vertonungen der Texte ebenso wie in den mitreißenden, kraftvollen Sätzen erscheint Mozarts letztes Meisterwerk nicht nur als Ritual zur Totenruhe, sondern auch als Feier der Lebenskräfte.

On this special choral evening with Raphaël Pichon and his Ensemble Pygmalion, Mozart's famous Requiem, which the composer was unable to complete even on his deathbed, is interwoven with numerous unknown vocal works by Mozart that thematically revolve around the end of life. But in these partly simple settings of the texts as well as in the rousing, powerful movements, Mozart's last masterpiece appears not only as a ritual for the rest of the dead, but also as a celebration of the vital forces.
