Musique De Chambre Et Opéra ? Un Accord Made in... Le Grand Foyer !
Oratorium / OrkestraalConcert
The Concertini are an opportunity for the soloists of our Symphony Orchestra to deploy their talents as chamber musicians and to shine in small but varied ensembles. The red thread of this 2023-24 season will be vocal music . Singers from the great La Monnaie family will be invited to perform at the Grand Foyer, and concerts are once again planned with the laureates and soloists of our MM Academy . In November, we will thus present, according to tradition, the new promotion of young singers and singers, thanks to our Wildcard formulawhich offers them the opportunity to present their personal projects to a jury. Two of these projects will be scheduled this season. You will also hear our laureates and soloists in a family concertino, Tzar Saltan , an arrangement of The Tale of Tsar Saltan (Rimsky-Korsakov) by pianist Irina Lankova. As the 2023 edition of the Queen Elisabeth Competition is dedicated to singing, we couldn't miss this event. This season, La Monnaie will welcome the first winner for a lunchtime concert! You can also revel in the sounds of the La Monnaie Youth Choir , which is making its return to the Concertini line-up after several years of absence. The world premiere of Cassandra – the first opera by the former director of La Monnaie Bernard Foccroulle – in September 2023 is the perfect opportunity to put Belgian contemporary music in the spotlight . Bernard Foccroulle is preparing a carte blanche concert in collaboration with our musicians. We will also pay tribute to the composer Wim Henderickx, who died prematurely in 2022. And then there is... Wagner! At the end of the 19th century, his artistic ideas met with a lively echo in the artistic circles Les XX and La libre esthetic, which then gravitated around La Monnaie. Based on the research of Stijn Paredis and Dominique Bauer (KU Leuven), we will offer some Concertini directly inspired by the programs of the time and will explore the way in which the experience and reception of music then evolved under the double influence of the modernization of society and the Wagnerian ideal of "convergence of the arts".
