Plato Kuzmich Kovalyoff wakes up one morning. Something is strange, something is different, something is missing. Yes, that's right: his nose! A man without a nose, not thinking about the consequences, both professionally and socially! And then this missing nose also strives for individuality and independence! That can only be a bad dream.

The absurd plot based on Gogol is underlined by the Russian composer Dmitri Schostakowitsch, musically skillfully with a patchwork of musical forms. The work channels the power of art to criticize in an entertaining, pointed and relentless manner. The former denunciation of greed for power in all forms within Russian society has become timeless and universal.

This musical farce fits perfectly into the space of the chamber opera, especially since it is presented in an ideal version. This enables the audience to experience the musical colors of the multi-faceted composition in all its spectrums intensely.
