She has a unique voice, crystalline and malleable, by turns mischievous and dramatic, always deeply moving. Patricia Petibon offers herself entirely when she is on stage, whether she embodies the heroine of an opera or performs in recital. Well known to the French public, she knew how to appropriate varied repertoires to the point of making them her own like no other: the baroque following her companionship with William Christie, Mozart in the obvious extension of her first love, Italian opera with Rigoletto or La Traviata , French music from every angle – whether by Massenet, Debussy, Poulenc, or the creations of Boesmans and Escaich.
The great French soprano goes back to basics in this new recital which offers to hear the very essence of her lyrical personality: Handel, Gluck, Rameau and Mozart, these are composers she knows extremely intimately, and whom she now approaches with an oh so unequaled maturity.
