Kein geringerer als Gidon Kremer bezeichnete Raminta Šerkšnytes »De Profundis« als »die Visitenkarte der baltischen Musik«. Das 1998 komponierte Werk für Streichorchester ist inzwischen die meistgespielte litauische Komposition weltweit. Mirga Gražinytė- Tyla, Chefdirigentin des City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, ist nicht nur Landsfrau von Raminta Šerkšnyte, sondern auch eine große Verehrerin ihres Stils, den sie bewundernd als »Ramintacismus« bezeichnet. Für ihr Debüt bei den Münchner Philharmonikern hat Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla außerdem die Symphonie Nr. 3 des selten gespielten Mieczysław Weinberg ausgewählt. Der sowjetische Komponist mit polnisch-jüdischen Wurzeln geriet wie sein Freund Schostakowitsch in die Mühlen der stalinistischen Kulturpolitik und wurde im Westen erst im letzten Jahrzehnt langsam wiederentdeckt. Dagegen ist Robert Schumanns a-Moll-Klavierkonzert eine unumstößliche Größe in den Konzertsälen. Der gefeierte Pianist Igor Levit verspricht einen tiefgründigen Zugang zu dem romantischen Meisterwerk.

None other than Gidon Kremer described Raminta Šerkšnyte's »De Profundis« as »the visiting card of Baltic music«. The work for string orchestra, composed in 1998, is now the most played Lithuanian composition worldwide. Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, Principal Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, is not only a compatriot of Raminta Šerkšnyte, but also a great admirer of her style, which she admiringly calls »Ramintacism«. For her debut with the Munich Philharmonic, Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla also chose the third symphony by the rarely performed Mieczysław Weinberg. Like his friend Shostakovich, the Soviet composer with Polish-Jewish roots got caught up in Stalinist cultural politics and was only slowly rediscovered in the West in the last decade. In contrast, Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor is an undeniable force in concert halls. Acclaimed pianist Igor Levit promises a profound approach to the romantic masterpiece.
