There are arias in high seas and evergreens astern when Showbåden leaves the quay again this year. With music by, among others, Gershwin, Sondheim, Bernstein and Normann Andersen, the musical canal tour sets sail for the much loved musical favorites and charming contributions from the world of opera.
On deck for the maritime musical experience, we find the opera singers Helene Hvass Hansen (soprano), Christian Damsgaard (tenor) and Sidsel Eriksen (mezzo), who will create a funny and foaming round-trip musical show.
The singing crew invite new as well as experienced passengers to board Showbåden 2022. This festive means of transport, which headed out for the first time in 2021, placed itself in the slipstream of Operettebåden, which has ravaged the canals of the city during Copenhagen Opera Festival.
Showbåden 2022 is directed by Johanne Holten, who is a well-known figure on the festival scene. She was in charge of the production of the H.C. Andersen opera fairy tale last year and one of the 100 opera moments which magically arose in the Copenhagen streets, alleys and squares in 2020. She is also assistant director at Det Kongelige Teater, and, with her work on the production of The Valkyrie and the Hobbit in Copenhagen and Aarhus, she is known for sparkling and sensuous production with lots of action.

All Showbåden departures are in an open boat so keep an eye on the weather on the day and bring warm, rainproof clothes or light summer clothes. In case of an occasional shower on the way, the boat will go under one of the bridges nearby and continue the performance from there.
