Anyone who has ever met a real world star will probably never forget it. How does it feel to get really close to your idol? So close that this one encounter will change your own life a bit? There's the toilet attendant who fixes Judy Garland's hem, the librarian who owes her life to Piaf, the usher who is brought onto the stage by Patsy Cline and fills in as backing vocalist, or the young, ambitious reporter trying to get Billie Holiday to to make speeches. A nanny hears Calla's voice and reevaluates her life...

What fascinates us so much about those extraordinary people "who refuse to stay down to earth"? Who is behind the world famous songs that give us so much power? The actress and singer Susanne Eisenkolb skilfully and touchingly brings both the women next door and the legends and their iconic music to life. An evening about dreams, hopes, love and suffering. And the moment that can mean happiness.

Background information:

With her musical drama, the Australian author Joanna Murray-Smith doesn't memorialize the stars, but examines their importance for ordinary people. Five encounters are told in five episodes. All fictional, but inspired by the historical figures. The play premiered in Australia in 2010, and the German premiere with Susanne Eisenkolb took place in 2021 at the Theater im Rathaus in Essen.

Mit ihrem musikalischen Schauspiel setzt die australische Autorin Joanna Murray-Smith den Stars kein Denkmal, sondern nimmt ihre Bedeutung für ganz normale Menschen unter die Lupe. Erzählt werden fünf Begegnungen in fünf Episoden. Allesamt fiktiv, aber von den historischen Figuren inspiriert. Das Stück wurde 2010 in Australien uraufgeführt, die deutsche Erstaufführung mit Susanne Eisenkolb fand 2021 im Theater im Rathaus in Essen statt.
