The most famous and charismatic of French baritones ventures into the Brahms repertoire for this series of lieder inspired by a legend from the Middle Ages. La Romance de la belle Magelone recounts the adventures of the knight Pierre de Provence, who falls in love with the king's daughter in Naples and flees with her. So as not to lose any of the details of this romantic fresco, Stéphane Degout surrounds himself with his favorite companion, Alain Planès, the mezzo Marielou Jacquard, but also the actor Roger Germser, who completes the work of Brahms by reading extracts from the novel by Ludwig Tieck, who captured this legend in the 19th century and inspired the composer.

Le plus célèbre et charismatique des barytons français s’aventure dans le répertoire de Brahms pour cette série de lieder inspirée d’une légende du Moyen Age. La Romance de la belle Magelone raconte les aventures du chevalier Pierre de Provence, lequel s’éprend à Naples de la fille du roi et fuit avec elle. Pour ne rien perdre des détails de cette fresque amoureuse, Stéphane Degout s’entoure de son accompagnateur fétiche, Alain Planès, de la mezzo Marielou Jacquard, mais aussi du comédien Roger Germser, lequel complète l’oeuvre de Brahms en lisant des extrait du roman de Ludwig Tieck, qui s’empara de cette légende au XIXe siècle et inspira le compositeur.
