After the highly successful productions of the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita, the intense collaboration between composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and librettist Tim Rice suffered significant cracks. Lloyd Webber therefore concentrated on a few more modest projects. And the most striking was the musical for one actress Tell Me on a Sunday . It is the story of a young English woman who suddenly appears in America, where she experiences a series of relationship vicissitudes. In our country, Tell Me on a Sunday has only been performed under the title Líp se loučí v sediná once, in 2001 in the translation by Pavel Vrba (+2011) at the Ungelt Theater with Marta Kubišová. The world premiere took place in London in 1982 and, as the musical lasted only an hour, it was presented on stage together with the composer's previous work from 1978, which originally took the form of his brother Julian's gramophone album Variations . It was a freely worked theme by Paganini, but for cello. On stage, the Variations were supplemented with a ballet component. As a lyricist for Tell Me on a Sunday , he chose the experienced lyricist Donn Black, with whom he collaborated ten years later on the famous Sunset Boulevard . The one-hour recital about a young English woman's search for her own path was originally written for the singer Marti Webb. In the new millennium, specifically in 2003, Tell Me on a Sunday was staged again in London. But in the edited full-length version. And it was for her that we obtained a license for the next season for Theater "12" and the representative Hana Fialova . Michael Prostějovský , almost a court translator of Lloyd Webber's musicals, will take care of the new texts and adaptation of the Czech libretto. For Hana Fialová, this is an extraordinary opportunity to introduce herself to the Ostrava audience with a very intimate story and great music, so to speak, within reach of the audience.
