“  This Tristan is becoming something terrible! It is incredibly tragic! It crushes everything!  confided Wagner to his “muse” Mathilde Wesendonk in April 1859. And, in fact, opera is a unique musical experience, Act III remaining one of the peaks of Western musical literature. It is Giuseppe Frigeni (we remember his extraordinary Macbeth and Lohengrin in Bordeaux) who is directing this new production under the direction of Paul Daniel , a passionate Wagnerian — the CD-Book dedicated to the composer which he recently registered with the ONBA at Actes Sud bears witness to this.

« Ce Tristan devient quelque chose de terrible ! C'est d'un tragique inouï ! Cela écrase tout ! » confiait Wagner à sa « muse » Mathilde Wesendonk en avril 1859. Et, de fait, l'opéra est une expérience musicale unique, l'Acte III demeurant l'un des sommets de la littérature musicale occidentale. C'est Giuseppe Frigeni (on se souvient de ses extraordinaires Macbeth et Lohengrin à Bordeaux) qui assure la mise en scène de cette nouvelle production sous la baguette de Paul Daniel, wagnérien passionné — le CD-Livre dédié au compositeur qu'il a récemment enregistré avec l'ONBA chez Actes Sud en témoigne.
