LOD musical theatre 's new opera , Woman at Point Zero , is inspired by the eponymous novel by Egyptian feminist author Nawal El Saadawi . The opera follows a day of two women who meet in prison. Fatma is a liberated feminist and activist who has been convicted of manslaughter, while Sama, an ambitious young documentary filmmaker, wants to tell Fatma's story. The two women share their most intimate memories, experiences and secrets. The initial distrust quickly gives way to curiosity and a feeling of solidarity, before turning into intense friendship. What is the condition of women? How does liberation feel? Is it possible to be freer in prison than outside?

Woman at Point Zero is a universal tale of exploitation, sacrifice and the relentless quest for freedom. Composer Bushra El-Turk , director Laila Soliman , librettist Stacy Hardy and set designer and film designer Bissane Al Charif offer an engaging multimedia production. Under the baton of conductor Kanako Abe resounds a remarkable blend of Western and Eastern musical traditions, performed by a unique set of traditional folk instruments held by musicians from all over the world.

L' opéra de LOD théâtre musical, Woman at Point Zero, s'inspire du roman éponyme de l'auteure féministe égyptienne Nawal El Saadawi. L'opéra suit une journée de deux femmes qui se rencontrent en prison. Fatma est une féministe et activiste affranchie qui a été condamnée pour homicide involontaire, tandis que Sama, une jeune documentariste ambitieuse, veut raconter l'histoire de Fatma. Les deux femmes partagent leurs souvenirs, leurs expériences et leurs secrets les plus intimes. La méfiance initiale fait rapidement place à la curiosité et à un sentiment de solidarité, avant de se transformer en amitié intense. Qu'est la condition féminine ? Comment se ressent la libération ? Est-il possible d'être plus libre en prison que dehors ?

Woman at Point Zero est un récit universel sur l'exploitation, le sacrifice et l'incessante quête de liberté. La compositrice Bushra El-Turk, la metteure en scène Laila Soliman, la librettiste Stacy Hardy et la scénographe et décoratrice de cinéma Bissane Al Charif proposent une production multimédia prenante.
