Bio: The young baritone Hongyu Chen, born in Inner Mongolia, completed his concert exam in 2017 with honors at the Saar University of Music. He also completed his master's degree with distinction at the Mannheim Opera School with Rudolf Piernay. His teachers include KS. Eva Randova and KS. Eva Marton.As a multiple prizewinner in international competitions, he won the 53rd International Singing Competition by Anton Dvorak (Czech Republic), the 18th International Singing Competition by Ada Sari (Poland), the 18th International Singing Competition by Imrich Godin (Slovakia), the Concours de Chant Lyrique à Paris UPMCF (France), 5th Int. Singing Competition JEJ Reszkow (Poland) and the 23rd International Singing Competition Chamber Opera Rheinsberg Castle in Germany. His artistic career was supported by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, the Wilhelm Müller Foundation, the Richard Wagner Foundation and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now".He has performed at the Frankfurt Opera, the Bayreuth Festival (Haus Wahnfried), the Tyrolean Festival, the Opéra-Théâtre de Metz Métropole, the Weimar National Theater, the Nordhausen Theater and the Szeged National Theater. His extensive concert engagements took Hongyu Chen to several European countries as well as Asia and led to collaborations with renowned orchestras such as the German State Philharmonic of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Brandenburg State Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic, the Orchester National de Lorraine and conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Helmut Rilling, Gustav Kuhn and Gyüdi Sándor.
Since 2018 he has been a lecturer at the Inner Mongolia Art University in China and at the Szeged University in Hungary as well as visiting professor for master classes in China and Europe.
